Using “Alertable” residents can now receive notifications and alerts on street and facility closures, project updates, important services, and much more

Thursday, December 3, 2020 - Yarmouth, N.S. – The Town of Yarmouth has launched a new community notification system called Alertable. Alertable is a powerful tool for sending day-to-day community notices and emergency alerts for facilities, streets, parks, transit, municipal services, meetings, important programs, pandemic info, severe weather, emergency planning, and more.

The Town is encouraging both residents and visitors to sign up and use Alertable to stay informed, stay safe, and plan ahead. This system offers multiple ways to receive notifications, and they are all free. The Town is now using Alertable to deliver instant updates on a variety of topics and users can receive those updates through the mobile app, text, email, phone, website, social media, home smart speaker and more. You also are free to choose any combination of these options, and all are easy to use.

The Alertable app for iOS and Android smartphones is available for download. Users can also install the Alertable skill and action for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant home devices. Users also have the convenience of signing up to receive email and SMS text notifications, or even phone calls. You can follow Alertable on Facebook and Twitter and you can even connect with Alertable directly on Facebook Messenger and install the Alertable add-on for Slack and Microsoft Teams (coming soon).

Notifications are fast, reliable and easy to see and hear. Using the mobile app, you can personalize notifications by type and severity and choose notifications for more than one location. Home, office, cottage, family and friends and more. Other features include roaming and an override silent mode.

Over 1,000 communities across Canada are using Alertable to keep residents and visitors informed and safe. It is proven and capable and has been successfully used in a wide range of emergencies and day-to-day events.
