Not every business in Yarmouth has a permanent storefront, but mobile vendors and street performers are an important part of our local economy.
You need permission to sell or perform in public places. The Vending By‑law explains the rules for souvenir stands, mobile canteens, vending machines, farmers’ markets and other vendors. Rules include completing the right forms, paying fees, and operating only at designated vending sites.

Busking (street performance) downtown
Family-friendly busking (jugglers, musicians, living statues) is welcome downtown. There is free registration with the Town and no permit or fee. Please see the guidelines below, and pdf download our Busking Brochure.(5.00 MB)
Guidelines for busking in Yarmouth
- Open to all ages. Kids 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Register with the Town using the free pdf registration form(309 KB) .
- Perform only in designated downtown areas shown on the map.
- Do not use sharp or dangerous objects (for example, juggling knives, chainsaws, hatchets, or flaming props).
- Keep noise reasonable. Plugged‑in instruments or sound systems are allowed only in designated areas.
- Keep sidewalks and business entrances clear for pedestrian flow and safety.
- Do not sell products other than your own CDs.
