Our water is regularly tested by an independent lab to ensure it meets Canadian drinking water quality standards. However, new testing requirements from the provincial government for municipal water utilities in Nova Scotia demand that a number of samples be taken directly from consumer taps.
The Yarmouth Water Utility is seeking Town of Yarmouth water customers to participate in its drinking water sampling program testing for lead and copper. Participation is free and voluntary and will provide you with information on lead and copper levels in your tap water. In addition, it will help to determine the water utility’s compliance with Health Canada’s new drinking water guidelines for lead and copper. Testing is carried out each year, from May to October.
PLEASE NOTE: You must be a customer receiving water from the Yarmouth Water Utility. This program does not apply to private wells or other water sources. Only a select number of applications will be accepted each year. Priority is given to properties that, according to existing records, may have a full or partial water supply line made of lead, and/or properties of an age where a full or partial lead line may be in existence.
Please complete the form below to be considered for our free water testing program. Please provide a phone number or email address (preferably both) so we may reach out to you if selected.
