Policy statement

The Town of Yarmouth recognizes the important and valuable contribution of groups and organizations to the recreational and cultural climate of our community and, as a matter of policy, will, upon request, consider providing financial and other assistance to enable them to promote their objectives.

Financial assistance will be classed as either operating, which is intended to cover those expenses associated with starting and operating the program and/or service; or tax, which is intended to cover property tax expenses.

Grants to organizations — process and deadlines

Tax grants

  • Tax grants are considered once a year.
  • Submit your tax grant application by April 15.
  • Applications received after April 15 will not be considered.

Operating grants

  • Operating grants are considered twice a year (spring and fall).
  • Each group may submit only one operating grant application per year.
  • Submit operating grant applications by April 15 (spring) or September 15 (fall).
  • The maximum grant per group is $5,000.
  • The available budget is split 70% for the spring intake and 30% for the fall intake.
  • Applications received after the deadline will be held for the next intake.
  • Council may ask any applicant to present to Council.

Grant Applications

The Town of Yarmouth is now accepting applications for financial assistance from non-profit organizations. The first deadline for submitting applications is April 15th. If you are applying for a property tax grant, you must apply before this deadline. Any group or organization applying for an operational grant must submit their application by April 15th or September 15th. To be considered, all applications must be submitted in accordance with the Town's  pdf Grant Policy(127 KB) . Incomplete applications will not be considered.
