➡ Noise Bylaw (repeal and replace)
This hearing addresses a recommendation that council repeal and replace the current Noise Bylaw. As part of the regular bylaw review process, staff is recommending the bylaw be replaced with a more comprehensive one developed in cooperation with the local RCMP Staff Sargent. The new bylaw offers a key provision to allow individuals and businesses holding special events with entertainment, who are concerned about being in violation of the bylaw, to apply for a permit. Copies of both bylaws can be found in the minutes of the September 9th Council Meeting at Agendas, Minutes & Livestream.
➡ Open-Air Burning Bylaw (Backyard Fire Bylaw)
This hearing is to address a proposed bylaw that will allow property owners to apply for a permit to have backyard fires when the proper conditions are met. Those conditions, including hours for burning, the type of burning appliances allowed, the type of wood to be used, and how to get a permit, are clearly detailed in the bylaw. The bylaw is also intended to promote public health, safety and protect the welfare of residents of the Town of Yarmouth from air pollution, nuisances and fire hazards associated with outdoor burning. A copy of the proposed bylaw can be found in the minutes of the September 9th Council Meeting at Agendas, Minutes & Livestream.
➡ Water Supply Upgrade Lending Program Bylaw
This hearing addresses a bylaw that will enable the financing of water supply upgrades to qualifying residential properties within the Town of Yarmouth. The lending program is intended to assist residents who are not connected to the Town’s water system, and who depend on a well as their water source. A copy of the proposed bylaw can be found in the minutes of the September 9th Council Meeting at Agendas, Minutes & Livestream.
