A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 6:30 pm with Town Council.
The public can register to speak at the meeting, or hand in written submissions. Registrations to speak, and written submissions, must be received no later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 15th. To register to speak, or submit a written submission, please email admin@townofyarmouth.ca or call 902-742-2521 ext. 224.
This hearing will address two separate applications as follows:
1. Land Use Bylaw Amendments - Boarding or Rooming Houses
An applicant has requested amendments to the Town's Land Use Bylaw to allow Boarding or Rooming Houses in the Downtown Commercial (C-1) zone. Currently, the Land Use Bylaw only allows Boarding or Rooming Houses in residential zones by Development Agreement or Site Plan Approval.
How will this affect me?
The proposed amendments will enable all property owners with dwelling units in any zone to rent more than three rooms as per the definition of Boarding or Rooming Houses.
2. Development Agreement, Land Use Bylaw Amendments, and Rezoning - Shaw Avenue
An applicant has requested a Development Agreement and Land Use Bylaw amendments to construct a 24-unit affordable housing complex on vacant land on Shaw Avenue. The proposed development will consist of a mix of bachelor, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. The Land Use Bylaw amendments will remove minimum on-site parking requirements for developments proceeding by Development Agreement.
How will this affect me?
The proposed development will occur on Shaw Avenue and provide needed affordable housing for the Town of Yarmouth.
