A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, October 12th, at 6:30 pm in council chambers, 400 Main Street.
Members of the public can attend and speak at the hearing, or hand in written submissions. Written submissions can be emailed to admin@townofyarmouth.ca and must be received by October 6th at 4 p.m.
What is the Hearing About?
The Town has received an application for a Development Agreement from Van-Jas Holdings Limited to add short-term rentals as a permitted use at 577 Main Street (PID 90323841). The property is currently zoned High-Density Residential (R-3) and has an existing building containing four (4) apartments and a restaurant and lounge area which is not currently in use. There was a previously approved development agreement for this property which permitted a maximum of 11 dwelling units within the existing building.
The property owner is now applying to allow the units to be used as dwellings or short-term rentals, or a combination of the two. The proposed development agreement does not require the property owner or short-term rental host to reside on-site.
How Will This Affect Me?
The proposed Development Agreement will allow units in the existing building to be used as residential dwellings and/or short-term rentals. These changes will only apply to this property.
