Great progress was made this week with infrastructure upgrades at the intersection of Main, Vancouver, and Chestnut Streets. As we head into the weekend, please be advised of the following updated detours and lane closures that will take us through to Monday.
For Saturday, July 13th:
- the partial lane closure on the east side of Main Street between Chestnut Street and 605 Main Street (Jade Therapies) will remain in place.
- There will be no traffic control, but cones and barricades are in place. Exercise caution driving through the area.
On Monday, July 15th, the intersection closure returns, but will not remain in place at night:
- Main Street, between Hibernia Street and the intersection, will be local traffic only (no access to Vancouver Street). Emergency vehicles ONLY will be allowed to travel through this section, and detour through the Irving Station to access Vancouver Street.
- Main Street, between the intersection and Elm Street, will be local traffic only.
- Chestnut Street, between Summer Street and Brunswick Street, will be local traffic only. Customers of the Yarmouth Professional Centre will be allowed access via Brunswick Street.
- Vancouver Street (hospital) can be accessed from Water Street, as the median/flower beds have been removed behind the Milton Horse Fountain (allowing left turns). No right-hand turn access onto Main Street from Vancouver Street.
- Customers can access the Irving/Circle K and Duncan Plumbing via Water Street and Vancouver Street, but will need to exit using the same routes (no access to Main Street).
Traffic control personnel will be located at each detour during regular work hours to assist drivers and answer questions.
PLEASE NOTE: these closures are subject to change during construction. While we will do our best to offer updates, please be prepared for changes or new lane closures as you approach the area. All work is weather permitting. While Daily work times are 7 am to 7 pm, but may vary due to weather or other factors.
