The Town of Yarmouth is seeking a qualified Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team. 

The Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for performing operational duties at the Town’s Class III Water Treatment Plant. This includes monitoring water quality within the facility, the distribution system, and the watershed. Responsibilities involve the operation, maintenance, and calibration of all treatment-related systems such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC, SCADA, chemical feed systems, pumps, and laboratory analyses. This position works as part of a team of operators and reports directly to the Chief Operator of the Water Treatment Plant.

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Completion of a two-year technical program in Water Resources Technology, Environmental Science, or an accredited Water Operator Training Program

  • A valid Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification, Class II or higher

  • A minimum of three (3) years of Class II operational experience in a water or wastewater treatment facility

Consideration may also be given to applicants who:

  • Hold a license in a related trade with at least four (4) years of practical experience (e.g., plumber, power engineer)

  • Have completed relevant coursework in water or wastewater treatment

Compensation

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the CUPE Local 2530 Collective Agreement (Level 1 - current rate $28.82/hour)
