Volunteers Needed to Serve on Recreation and Accessibility Advisory Committees

TOWN OF YARMOUTH WATERFRONT ADVISORY COMMITTEE

We are seeking six (6) citizens to serve with this committee. The mandate of this committee is to advise Council on a variety of issues including advising on infrastructure projects for the waterfront and Water Street, advising on services and programs to enhance the connections between our waterfront and our residents and visitors, ATV’s on Water Street, and more.

YARMOUTH RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Town of Yarmouth is seeking three (3) citizens to join the Yarmouth Recreation Advisory Committee. The Committee is the municipal entity responsible for recreational and leisure services for the Town of Yarmouth and the Municipality of Yarmouth.

The committee's role is defined as follows:

➡ The committee is responsible to provide direction and receive recommendations from staff, relative to the recreational programs, facilities, services and activities.
➡ The committee meets the first Wednesday of every other month at 5:30 pm.

TOWN OF YARMOUTH ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Town of Yarmouth is seeking one (1) citizen to join its Accessibility Advisory Committee. Formed in 2021 in response to the passing of Nova Scotia's Accessibility Act, the committee is made up of members of the community who offer broad knowledge and firsthand experience on the subject of accessibility.

Some of the committee's key roles include:

➡ Guiding the development and implementation of a comprehensive Accessibility Plan.
➡ Working with town staff to identify accessibility barriers the public face as they try to access Town of Yarmouth Goods and Services, Information and Communications, Employment, the Built Environment, and Transportation.
➡ Advising council on accessibility issues in the Town of Yarmouth.

Individuals interested in volunteering for these positions should submit their expression of interest by completing an application form identifying the committee or board they would like to be appointed to, and provide relevant background information on what assets they would bring to the committee.
