Friday, November 19th, 2021 – The following is a statement from the Town of Yarmouth regarding a COVID-19 mandatory vaccination policy:

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Town of Yarmouth has taken important steps toward reducing the spread of COVID-19. The health and safety of municipal employees is a key priority and the town is committed to taking every precaution reasonable to protect its workers from the hazards of this virus. Vaccination is a key element of that protection.

As a measure to maximize COVID-19 vaccination rates among employees, the Town of Yarmouth has adopted a Mandatory Vaccination Policy. The policy requires all persons working for or providing services in municipal buildings to be fully vaccinated by January 14, 2021. This includes councillors, employees, contractors, students, volunteers and others. Further, new employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of being hired by the Town of Yarmouth.

This policy was approved by Town Council at its regular meeting on Thursday, November 18th, 2021.

“The Town of Yarmouth provides a number of essential services to its residents. To ensure continuous delivery of those services, we need a healthy workforce fully protected from COVID-19. Also, placing a focus on protecting employees through vaccination adds a layer of protection for the entire community, as our staff are in direct contact with residents on a daily basis.“ - Town of Yarmouth Mayor, Pam Mood
