Notice of Approval

In accordance with Section 210(3) of the Municipal Government Act, notice is hereby given that Yarmouth Town Council held a duly advertised Public Hearing on the 13th day of July, 2017 and at a regular Council meeting held on the 13th day of July, 2017 approved the following amendments to the Land Use By-law.

  1.   pdf Amend the Land Use By-law to permit the building for accessory use to be constructed on the vacant lot under conditions. The conditions being that the accessory use be removed if either of the lots changes ownership unless a building for a permitted use is constructed on the lot housing the accessory use as outlined in the Planner's report.   2.   pdf Amend the Land Use By-law by removing Section 6.6(1)(a) which only allows one sided signs and replacing it with a new Section 6.6(1)(a) which will allow multisided signs as outlined in the Planner's report. (62 KB)
  3.   pdf Amend the Land Use By-law to Permit onsite construction of one (1) bedroom two (2) unit buildings (mini homes) in the East Side Village Mobile Home Park on Argyle Street and Ellis Road as outlined in the Planner's report. (297 KB)
  4.   pdf   Amend the Land Use By-law setback for accessory buildings where existing buildings are less than 4.6m (15ft) from the street as outlined in the Planner's report. (63 KB)
  5.   pdf Amend the Land Use By-law by removing the requirements for Mandatory Bicycle Parking Units but facilitating their construction if users so wish to add them to their dwelling units at any time as outlined in the Planner's report. (211 KB)
  6.   pdf Amend the Land Use By-law to provide clarity with respect to permitting more than one (1) kitchen in a dwelling unit as outlined in the Planner's report. (63 KB)
  7.   pdf Amend the Land Use By-law to clarify the setback from flanking streets in the General Commercial (C-2) Zone as outlined in the Planner's report. (102 KB)

Notice is hereby given that Section 247(1) of the Municipal Government Act allows that any aggrieved person, the applicant, and adjacent municipality, a village in which the property is situated or the Director may within fourteen (14) days of the publishing of this notice appeal the decision(s) of Council to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.

Amendments to Sewer Connection By-law

This is to advise that Council, at its meeting planned for Thursday, August 10, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., will consider Second Reading and if deemed advisable approve amendments to the Sewer Connection By-law.

Council will consider written and oral presentations at that time.

Amendments to Taxi By-law

This is to advise that Council, at its meeting held on Thursday, July 13th, 2017, approved Second Reading of amendments to the Taxi By-law.

The amended by-law becomes effective on the date of this publication. The by-law is available for viewing at the Town Office during normal office hours or by clicking the link below:

This is to advise that Council, at its meeting planned for Thursday, July 13th, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., will consider Second Reading and if deemed advisable approve amendments to the Taxi By-law.
