Frames on James
A great frame can transform your memories into art. Frames on James has been making people’s homes and businesses more beautiful for nearly 35 years. There you can find everything you need, from custom designer frames to exquisite shadow boxes.
Coral Fuller, the current owner, took up her hammer and paintbrush 14 years ago. Her store carries designer custom molding for picture frames from Larson-Juhl and Roma. She sees all kinds, from people who want to frame art they bought on vacation, to people with needlework they want framed as wedding presents.
What’s your signature product?
I specialize in custom shadow boxes. I make them for mementos, sports memorabilia, wedding bouquets, family heirlooms, and more.
How did you get started?
I’m a painter and I had started out making my own frames. My husband and I knew the couple who owned this business and after us constantly pestering them about when they were going to retire and sell the business, they invited me to come in and work with them. I did, and it was a good fit, and they trusted me enough to sell us the business and we’ve carried it from there.
What inspires you to do what you do?
The most rewarding thing for me is when I open up a finished frame and the people see it for the first time and there are tears to the eyes. I just love what I do – I’m so lucky. This is the first job I’ve had, besides being a mother, that I love. I did bookkeeping for a previous business, I studied architectural drafting, so that helps with the measurements and the dimensions, and I paint, so that helps with colour. Everything I’ve done in my life, every job I’ve had has helped contribute to this. It’s just a good fit.
