The Town of Yarmouth is now offering a program to commemorate local veterans in a colorful and vibrant way.
Monday, July 26th, 2021 - Yarmouth, N.S. – The Town of Yarmouth is now offering a program to commemorate local veterans in a colorful and vibrant way. The Town has partnered with Royal Canadian Legion Yarmouth Branch 61 to proudly to offer the Veterans Memorial Banner Program. This program allows families and friends of veterans to have their heroes honoured with a full colour banner to be displayed on Main Street in downtown Yarmouth for one month leading up to Remembrance Day.
The Veterans Memorial Banner Program has been a true success in dozens of communities. It honours our veterans across Canada on full colour, heavy duty banner material to be displayed in communities around Remembrance Day. The program is now open for applications in the Town of Yarmouth on a first-come-first-serve basis.
For those interested in applying, please note the following important information:
- There are currently 30 banner spots available.
- The cost for each banner is $122.50. Due to a generous donation from Yarmouth Legion Branch 61, the cost to families for each banner was greatly reduced.
- Banners will be placed on light poles from Frost Park to Forest Street.
- Banner size is 24” x 36”, double-sided. For reference, this is the same size as banners installed throughout town with “Dine Local”, “Shop Local”, “Play Local”.
- The veteran’s name and service details will be displayed on the banner, along with the sponsor’s name.
- Banners will be put up on October 12th and removed on November 12th.
- Town of Yarmouth Parks Department will store the banners and put up them up for Remembrance Day for 3 years.
- This program is open to residents of the Town of Yarmouth, the Municipality of Yarmouth, and the Municipality of Argyle.
- Application and payment are made at Yarmouth Town Hall through the Community Asset Donation Program. After payment is completed, participants will receive directions on how to provide information and photos for their banner.
