Heritage Properties Incentive Program

23 ClementsThe Town of Yarmouth has a Heritage Incentive Program in which Municipally Registered Heritage Properties located within the Town of Yarmouth are eligible for matched financial support for exterior conservation work.

This is an annual program in which owners of Town registered Heritage Properties may apply for 50% cost sharing support from the Town to aide in exterior renovations to their property to an annual maximum of $2 000.

This program is administered by the Town’s Heritage Advisory Committee. Council has dedicated $7,000 annually to be distributed for this program. Property owners may apply for cost sharing support once (1) per year, and will be awarded funding up to twice in any five (5) year period.

Priority is given to applications:

  • 225 Main StFor the preservation and restoration of historical structural and weatherproofing
    elements over cosmetic improvements;
  • For publicly visible features;
  • And/or Supported by a Building Conservation Plan that has been prepared by an
    architect, building inspector, engineer or other qualified restoration professional.

A few recipients of  previous grants were 225 Main Street, 37 Alma Street, 23 Clements & 3 Sycamore Street. Check out these beautiful homes and the work that has been done.

Take A Break this March! - Yarmouth Downtown Passport

downtown yarmouth passportA small group of volunteers along with a new local business and the support of the Town of Yarmouth and the Yarmouth & Acadian Shores Tourism Association (YASTA) are launching a Downtown Passport for the month of March. This passport is intended to encourage locals and visitors to shop and dine in the downtown Yarmouth area.

People are being encouraged to pick up a passport at any one of the partner locations and then visit all of the other partner locations, collecting signatures/stamps along the way. Once completed, you can drop off your passport at the Yarmouth Library for a chance to win some great prizes that have been provided by the partner locations. The promotion runs from March 4 - 27th.

The partner locations include; Aspire Esthetics, Gale’s Eatery, Every Bloomin’ Thing, KJR Jewellery, Sandy’s Gifts, Rudder's Seafood Restaurant, Wooden Buoy Antiques, The Style Merchant of Hawthorne St., SIP Cafe Yarmouth, Yarmouth Library, Yarmouth Natural Foods, Steampunk’d Salon & Gallery, City Drug Store, Ceramic Village, Mern’s Diner, Take a ride the NEW Yarmouth Bus, Town Hall.
