Canada Day Fireworks: Important Safety Message re: boats in Yarmouth harbour on Canada Day

Canada Day is almost here, and if the weather holds up, a fantastic fireworks display will happen over Yarmouth Harbour on Monday night. Once again we have been asked by the fireworks technicians to pass on a very important safety message to the public. In particular, those planning to watch the display from boats in the harbour.

Boat Operators: please DO NOT SET OFF FIREWORKS from your vessel at any time before, during, or after the 10 pm fireworks. This presents a serious danger to the technicians who begin setting up munitions early in the day on Lovitts Island. If the technicians determine there is a risk present from other fireworks, they could stop or not begin the event.

While we understand and appreciate others getting into the spirit of Canada Day by adding their own fireworks display over the harbour, doing so could lead to a serious mishap. We thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding with this important safety matter.
