Far too many blue bags are making it to the curb without proper sorting. It is causing a serious problem at the processing facility and our haulers are going to reject blue bags that are not properly sorted going forward. Please follow the two-bag recycling instructions below, or you may find your blue bags rejected.
Scotia Recycling, the company that sorts our blue bags, has said we need to do a better job sorting into 2 bags.
They have recently upgraded their processing facility and a lot of the equipment is automated. The paper mixed with the containers interferes with the process.
Please remember, to avoid having your recyclables left behind, you must have them sorted into two transparent BLUE bags.👇
➡️ Blue bag one - paper products
➡️ Blue bag two - the rest of your recycling (plastic, containers, jars, milk cartons/jugs, bottles, etc).
All recyclables must be clean.
Thank you for your cooperation!
