Yarmouth has an abundance of parks, open space and trails in which to enjoy the fresh air and peacefulness of our community.  These opportunities are made all the more enjoyable by our proximity to the sea.  Refreshing sea breezes, stunning sunsets and the cooling effect of an evening fog are regular events while enjoying outdoor living in Yarmouth.

The Hartlin Trail follows the historic train routes from Bunker's Island through to Lake Milo and beyond.  This route, along the edge of Yarmouth harbour, offers a great place for long leisurely walks, jogs or strolls.  Interpretive signage, wharves, parks, museums, shops and restaurants along the way, make the Hartlin Trail an enjoyable afternoon for everyone.  Don't forget to check the tide times, and witness the incredible 11 foot contrast between high and low tides in Yarmouth Harbour.

Throughout the Town, there are passive parks such as historic Frost Park, Beacon Park, Rotary Park and Sealed Landers Park connecting Milton Dam and Lake Milo.  Any of these parks are a great choice for a picnic or quiet relaxation.

The Lake Milo Aquatic Club has been a part of Yarmouth summer fun for many years.  The Lake Milo Aquatic Club has daily supervised swimming, swim lessons, sailing, canoe, kayak and dragon boat activities planned each summer.

Yarmouth offers a variety of playgrounds sure to keep the young entertained and active.  Playgrounds at Meadowfields, Central and South Centennial schools are complimented by four town playgrounds on Sprucewood Drive, Beacon Street, Havelock Drive and Goudey Street.  A playground designed specifically for pre-school aged children can be found at the Nova Scotia Community College.

Sports enthusiasts will find Yarmouth's facilities ideal for summer fun.  Sports fields are highlighted by historic Gateway field where Yarmouth's youth have gathered in the summer sun for an afternoon of baseball for nearly a century.  Nighttime baseball and softball are played at Broadbrook Park.  Soccer and other field sports are accomodated at Yarmouth High School, Central School and Meadowfields School fields.  Yarmouth County's track and field facilities are located at Gateway Park.
