Mayor Mooney Welcomes Investment in Yarmouth Jobs

Yarmouth Mayor Phil Mooney said the funding announcement today from Premier Darrell Dexter will help write another chapter in what has become a true Yarmouth success story.

“Tri-Star Industries is known around the world as an innovative company,” said Mooney. “As a result, Yarmouth is recognized as an attractive location for business where a skilled workforce can turn out world-class products and services. This type of provincial investment will help Yarmouth build a solid foundation for a sustainable economic future.”

Premier Dexter announced funding to help Tri-Star Industries expand, introduce new technology and create local jobs in Yarmouth. The Provincial funding is in addition to $195,000 in funding from ACOA announced last Thursday for marketing and promotion.

“People from around the globe who deal with the professionals at Tri-Star will now be better connected to the opportunities and benefits of doing business in Yarmouth,” said Mooney. “This announcement also demonstrates the positive results that are achieved through an open and respectful working relationship between the Province and the local community.”

Mooney also congratulated Tri-Star executives Keith Condon and Mitch Bonnar on developing a resourceful team of professionals in Yarmouth.

“We have seen how their talent for team building has inspired our entire community with the Yarmouth Mariners. This Town truly got behind our team this year, and showed all of Canada that the people of Yarmouth have tremendous spirit and pride.”

250th Anniversary Press Release PDF Print E-mail
YARMOUTH’S 250TH  ANNIVERSARY BEGINS WITH NEW WEBSITE

Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, December 9, 2010 – Chosen for being the occasion that is six-months prior to the actual 250th anniversary of this charming county on Canada’s Atlantic coast, ‘Yarmouth 250’ launches a dedicated website hosted by a local Internet service and domain registry, Register.com.

www.Yarmouth250.com is one-stop shopping for anyone who wants to peruse the wide range of activities, special events and signature festivals that will occur in Yarmouth County during 2011.

“We’re pretty excited about this very interactive new website for Yarmouth 250,” said Ken Langille, Yarmouth 250 Town Chairperson and Councillor for the Town of Yarmouth. “The initial design came from senior students at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, and the hands-on content has been handled by the experts right here in the county at Register.com.”

Municipal Chair of Yarmouth 250 Carole Hill-Bojarski said, “We think vacationers planning their Maritime fun time in 2011 will be impressed with the wide variety of  things to do here in Yarmouth town and county for our big birthday. From a re-enactment of the first English settlers arriving in 1761, to a Mi’kmaq PowWow, to a re-staging of our own musical, The Baltimore - it’s going to be a blast of a party!”

The Town of Yarmouth, the Municipalities of the Districts of Yarmouth and Argyle, and Acadia First Nation, have collaborated to produce a stellar anniversary year for this historic Canadian seaport. First settled by the Mik’maq, and followed by the French in the early 1600s, Yarmouth County came into world prominence in the late 1800s as a competitive shipbuilding and shipping port, rivalling Boston, Massachusetts and Saint John, New Brunswick at the time.
Register.com is leveraging ten years of experience in the domain business with over 2.5 million domain names under management. The company has built a reputation as a leading provider of global domain name registration, web site design and management services. It has a branch office and training facility in Hebron, Yarmouth Co., Nova Scotia.
The website, www.yarmouth250.com, will be launched with a brief ceremony at Yarmouth Town Hall at 400 Main Street in downtown Yarmouth at 2:50 p.m. on December 9.
