Town of Yarmouth thanks Volunteer Firefighters, Employers

The Town of Yarmouth held a reception at Town Hall on Wednesday evening to thank volunteer firefighters and the employers who graciously allow them time to serve.

Thursday, October 10th, 2019 - Yarmouth, N.S. – The Town of Yarmouth held a reception at Town Hall on Wednesday evening to thank volunteer firefighters and the employers who graciously allow them time to serve. As part of National Fire Prevention Week 2019, Mayor Pam Mood and Council welcomed several local business owners and volunteers to Town Hall to recognize their collective efforts.

The town recognized 20 local businesses at the event. Yarmouth and Area Chamber of Commerce President, Angela Greene, also attended and spoke on behalf of the chamber on the importance of businesses stepping up and supporting volunteers. 

The Yarmouth volunteer fire membership has 22 active members and 5 inactive members because of leave of absence. This number has been higher in the past, and the group has hopes to increase their numbers going forward.
