Public Works Operator - Temporary 12 months

The Town of Yarmouth invites applications from qualified individuals for a temporary full time position within the Public Works Department.   

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor, the successful candidate will be required to maintain the water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems, in addition to, performing street maintenance within the Town of Yarmouth. 


The ideal candidates will have a minimum of grade 12 education and an additional 2 years combined training and/or practical experience in a related field of work. The individual will have demonstrated mechanical ability and experience in the operation of heavy equipment.  All applicants are required to have as a condition of employment, a valid Nova Scotia class 3 driver’s license with air break endorsement.  Training in WHMIS, First Aid, and Confined Space Entry as well as training as a heavy equipment operator would be considered an asset.  The individual must be able to perform a variety of tasks from unskilled labour work to truck driver/machine operator. 

SalarySalary and benefits as per the collective agreement, the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 2530.
