Smart City Ideas Discussion

The Town of Yarmouth is looking for volunteers to be available next week (Feb 26- Feb 2), to come be part of filmed discussions on the following topics which have been identified as problems within our community:

-Immigration (declining populations, limited job force, lack of population diversity)

-Year-Round Tourism (Lack of experiences for tourists outside of the summer months)

-Lack of Recreation opportunities for marginalized and vulnerable groups (families, youth, seniors, low-income)

-Transportation Challenges (Car oriented planning has made it difficult for low income residents, or those who are environmentally conscious, to easily travel throughout the Town and access services such as health care, food, and employment without a vehicle)

-Unsustainable Waste Management and Undesirable Compost product (use of plastic bags, and difficulty sorting fine particles from compost material)

-Unemployment, mental illness and inability to access secure and stable housing within the Town

Each session will be a led discussion on the problem. Participants will be asked to provide their input on the identified issue as well as to help identify measurable outcomes we can use to work towards correcting it within our community.

This is your chance to have your say, we are listening!

If you are interested please e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If you are unable to participate but know someone else who would, please share! All are welcome.

The results of the discussions will be uploaded to the Town’s Youtube channel.

Thank you!
