New Ferry Service Starts Summer 2016!

Starting the summer of 2016, the CAT ferry is once again zipping passengers between Portland, Maine and Yarmouth. With a crossing time of just 5.5 hours, it takes just half the time that it would to drive – in style! Onboard amenities and features include:

  • the catgift shop
  • food service
  • movie lounges
  • kids' play area
  • pet kennels (call in advance)
  • Visitor Services Area

Trips start on June 15, 2016. Portland, Maine departure will be at 2:30pm EDST and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia departure at 8:00am ADST. Learn more on the Bay Ferries website: http://www.ferries.ca/thecat/ 

Transit Bus Route Change & Cash Fare effective April 4, 2016

Effective April 4, 2016 Town of Yarmouth Transit Service adds two bus stops located at 38 Havelock Drive and 41 Main Street (please refer to the transit route map to see change to route affected by the addtion of the two bus stops). Transit route 8x11 April2016 for brochure final.resize

The addition of the two bus stops will increase the overall bus schedule by 2 minutes, given there are no signficant delays in passenger pick-up.   Transit Service route will end its weekday stop (Monday to Friday), at the Royal Bank bus stop on Main Street, at approximately 6:59pm.

Transit Service will now accept cash to ride the bus.  Cash fare is $2.00 per single ride.  Driver will not carry cash, so exact change is required.

Take A Break this March! - Yarmouth Downtown Passport

downtown yarmouth passportA small group of volunteers along with a new local business and the support of the Town of Yarmouth and the Yarmouth & Acadian Shores Tourism Association (YASTA) are launching a Downtown Passport for the month of March. This passport is intended to encourage locals and visitors to shop and dine in the downtown Yarmouth area.

People are being encouraged to pick up a passport at any one of the partner locations and then visit all of the other partner locations, collecting signatures/stamps along the way. Once completed, you can drop off your passport at the Yarmouth Library for a chance to win some great prizes that have been provided by the partner locations. The promotion runs from March 4 - 27th.

The partner locations include; Aspire Esthetics, Gale’s Eatery, Every Bloomin’ Thing, KJR Jewellery, Sandy’s Gifts, Rudder's Seafood Restaurant, Wooden Buoy Antiques, The Style Merchant of Hawthorne St., SIP Cafe Yarmouth, Yarmouth Library, Yarmouth Natural Foods, Steampunk’d Salon & Gallery, City Drug Store, Ceramic Village, Mern’s Diner, Take a ride the NEW Yarmouth Bus, Town Hall.
