Why was it important for you to participate in the façade program?
I thought it was a great idea to refresh the downtown generally, and I thought it was a great idea to participate. We always tried to do stuff with our building to make sure we had things that allowed us to stick out in the community and look like were part of the community with our murals. We installed the awnings out front; we also spruced up and painted the molding around the building because it needed to be updated.
What impact has your new façade made to your business?
It freshened up the front of the store; there are still some more things to come though. People have noticed and said they like it and it’s nice. Visually its spruced up and made the area stand out a bit more on the street. As far as putting a dollar value or foot traffic we haven’t really counted and I don’t think I’ve noticed changes in the numbers that way. I see what we’ve done so far as a minor thing, we haven’t changed dramatically from what we were. I think the town itself has changed dramatically, I’m very impressed and I think it was an excellent program and it’s been a great success that has highlighted the downtown. Even if I can’t pinpoint the numbers, I feel in my gut it has drawn people downtown. In combination with the different events like the switch events it’s really started the process of revitalizing the downtown in a very positive way.
