Immigration Settlement Services

Immigration is an issue of the heart. People will come and stay only if they can provide for their families, make personal contacts, and build supportive networks in their workplaces and communities.

Andrew Pace, born in Australia, is the Immigration Information Navigator with the South West Shore Development Authority. He is responsible for coordinating and leading efforts to unite community groups and organizations in the goal of being a Welcoming Community for all newcomers to the Tri-County region.

Immigration Information Navigator objectives:

  • Provide the necessary settlement guidance that allows newcomers successful integration.
  • To assist in the design of programs that meet specific newcomers’ needs.
  • Increase awareness of the benefits of immigration and supporting multiculturalism to further develop South West Nova as an open and welcoming destination for immigrants.
  • Social integration to the community

Example of support services available:

  • Language training services
  • Employment skills development
  • Networking opportunities
