For anyone who is currently using RSS Feeds and is comfortable with them, this page may not be necessary for you to read.

Following are some instructions about getting the RSS Feeds we provide to your email, desktop, cell phone, and smartphone (ie. Blackberry, iPhone, etc.)

To receive RSS Feeds to your devices listed above, you must subscribe a service that sends the RSS information to the location of your choice.  This means creating and setting up an account. The advantage to this type of service is that you get automatic updates as we, the Town of Yarmouth, create them.  Most major web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) have the ability to subscribe to the Feeds in the browser.  No user account is necessary, but you, the user, are not made aware of the notices immediately.  Each user must decide which method is best suited to fit their needs.

Receiving the Feeds:

Web browser:

Step 1. Click the feed you want to view
Step 2. Near the top of the page there is a link or a button that says Subscribe.  Click the link/button and follow the steps given.

Note: Google Chrome does not support RSS Feeds in the browser.  An extra plug-in is needed.

Receive Feeds to a device:

There are several different options for receiving RSS Feeds to your different devices.  We recommend Notify.Me (web address: http://notify.me/) because it is a free, easy to use service that has the ability to send the Feeds to all the different types of devices.  This saves you from having to sign up to different services for different devices.  The Town of Yarmouth does not provide technical support beyond this page for the RSS Feeds.

Step 1. Click the feed you want to view
Step 2. Copy the address in the address bar
Step 3. Click the following link: http://notify.me/
Step 4. Click the "Sign Up" at the top right of the page.
Step 5. Enter a username, password, and email address
Step 6. Click the "I agree - Sign me up" button (Read the "Terms of Service" first)
Step 7. On top menu bar click "Sources"
Step 8. In the "Feed" box paste the URL from the feed you want to receive and click "Add Feed"
Step 9. On the top menu bar click "Account"
Step 10. On the top menu bar click "Sources" This will display a list of the feeds that you wil receive.  On each feed there are a set of icons.  Click on the icon that you want to receive the Feeds on. (See the explanation list below.)
Step 11. On the top menu bar click "Destinations."  This brings you to a page where you can setup the devices you want to receive messages on.

IM - messages via Instant Messenger
SMS - messages via cellphone/smartphone (check with your provider for related charges)
Email - messages via Email
App - messages via the notify.me application on your desktop. (Adobe Air is needed to run the application.  To download this free program click here: Adobe Air.)
